Master Lectures
Hosted by traditional masters and experts in the field of world music, the Door Dog Master Lectures in the past have been a quarterly series that offers the greater community a closer look at music from distinct regions of the world - from the painted faces behind Chinese Opera or the sounds and instruments of Kurdish music, to the ancient mughams of Azeri music or the legends behind the Indian santoor.
These Master Lectures provide traditional masters a public forum in which to present
and discuss their cultural music, while building the next generation of world music
listeners and aficionados.
Performance Workshops
Led by some of the most respected musicians in the field of world music, and scheduled throughout the year and open to the public, Door Dog's Performance Workshops develop instrument technique, repertoire, and cultural sensitivity to the music being learned.
Workshops have included Rahman Asadollahi in a "Closer Look At Azerbaijani Music"; Ross Daly on "The Art of Cretan Music"; Stephen Kent on "How To Play the Didjeridu"; Paul Pena on "Tuvan Overtone Singing"; Wang Wei and "The Art of Chinese Percussion"; and more.
